The Big Green Challenge

Vital Regeneration into 2nd round of the Big Green Challenge

Big Green Challenge Get on the Greenside

Vital Regeneration's Get on the Greenside project has been shortlisted by NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) as one of the top 100 entries for its million-pound Big Green Challenge prize, which is awarded to groups who demonstrate innovative ways of tackling climate change.

Get on the Greenside aims to reduce carbon emissions on six high-density estates in North Westminster by increasing the amount of waste recycled by residents, and involving them in a community composting project. The project will also promote the simple ways in which we can all help the environment: by buying local food; by using less energy; and by walking, cycling or using public transport.

Vital's Sustainability Programme Manager Marie Monaghan says: "More and more of the local community are getting behind this project because they can see how environmental awareness enhances their own lives at the same time as empowering them to have a positive impact in the fight to combat climate change."

In July, NESTA will award ten finalists up to £20,000 each towards their projects.
