Eco Projects
Eco Projects are Vital Regeneration’s neighbourhood recycling and composting programme.

'Our painted re-cycling bins on the Fisherton Estate'
The project aims to increase recycling awareness among the residents of Church St. and Queens Park, to increase the number of households participating in local recycling and composting initiatives and to improve recycling facilities in the area.
We want the community to become actively involved in our projects and are always looking to make recycling as convenient as possible.
We regularly consult with local residents to identify key areas of concern to the community and overcome these barriers by improving recycling facilities.
A key element of the programme is the recruiting and training of local recycling ‘champion’s to encourage residents to recycle, tell them how easy it is and to support residents who experience barriers to recycling. These volunteers get a chance to make a difference to their own community, while learning new skills and meeting lots of new people.
Eco Projects have introduced an environmental education programme to the after school homework club at The Greenside Community Centre. This programme uses fun activities to encourage kids to think about waste and ways we can reduce re-use and recycle it.
We are planning a programme of events, which will take place throughout the summer, which will focus on recycling, composting and improving general awareness of environmental issues.
Eco Projects was established by Vital Regeneration in partnership with Westminster City Council Recycling Department and local estate management teams in March 2006 and is funded by CRED (Community Recycling and Economic Development), WRAP (Waste Resources Action Programme) and Westminster City Council Recycling Department.
